Gallery Operations & Visitor Experience:

Salary can range RM10K-Rm18K depending on experience

RM8K-RM10K is for less experience applicants.

Role Overview:

The Operations Manager is responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of a National Gallery. This includes overseeing visitor operations, ticketing, marketing coordination, event management, and ensuring operational efficiency across all gallery facilities. The role requires a balance of analytical, operational, and people skills — ensuring both visitor satisfaction and financial sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Gallery Operations & Visitor Experience

Oversee daily operational flow of the gallery, including ticketing, entry, crowd management, and safety protocols.

Monitor footfall, ticket sales, and visitor data to produce weekly and monthly reports on performance and trends.

Ensure facilities and exhibitions run seamlessly with minimal downtime and high-quality visitor experience.

Manage operational SOPs and continuously improve efficiency in front-of-house and back-of-house functions.

  1. Ticketing & Revenue Management

Lead the ticketing and visitor services team — ensuring accurate reporting, reconciliation, and service excellence.

Track revenue components, including admission fees, event bookings, retail, and F&B.

Work closely with Finance to forecast, monitor, and optimize operational expenditure (OPEX) and margins.

Analyze visitor and ticketing data to inform pricing, promotions, and operational planning.

  1. Marketing & Promotions Support

Help market & execute campaigns that drive footfall and engagement.

Coordinate cross-promotions, partnerships, and digital initiatives to enhance gallery visibility.

Provide operational input to ensure marketing efforts align with capacity, scheduling, and event logistics.

  1. Event & Venue Management

Serve as the key liaison for external clients who wish to host events, weddings, or corporate functions at the gallery (e.g. gallery halls, and grounds).

Coordinate site visits, proposals, and quotations; manage bookings, logistics, and vendor coordination.

Oversee execution of events to ensure compliance with safety, aesthetic, and operational standards.

Develop and implement strategies to maximize venue utilization and revenue from private bookings.

  1. Stakeholder & Team Management

Work with government agencies, sponsors, curators, and vendors to ensure seamless delivery of exhibitions and events.

Supervise, train, and motivate the ticketing and operations team to deliver excellence and accountability.

Prepare reports and recommendations for management, covering visitor data, operational efficiency, and revenue performance.

Cultivate strong relationships with external partners, clients, and internal departments to ensure cohesive operations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in operations, preferably in museums, galleries, events, or hospitality sectors.

Strong analytical and reporting skills, with understanding of revenue and cost components.

Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and coordinate complex events or operations.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills — able to both sell and operationally execute.

Proficiency in MS Office, ticketing software, and CRM tools.

Personality Traits:

Detail-oriented yet creative and visitor-centric.

Strong sense of ownership, initiative, and accountability.

Ability to balance operational discipline with flexibility for special events.

Commercially savvy, with a knack for turning operations into opportunities.
